Boston Warehouse Stoneware Spoon Rest, Rest

My spoon rest arrived so fast. I was really impressed with the speed of delivery. I also love the spoon rest. It's large and looks great. My one disappointment was that it's tough to see in the picture that the gold section at the bottom is completely flat, no glaze, no shine, just raw pottery. In fact, I am concerned that it will absorb colors and grease from things I cook (like curry and spaghetti). It would look so much better with a nice smooth shine to match the rest of it. Because there is no glaze on that gold section, it's very rough to the touch. Like a plain terra cotta pot. It's such a strange design choice not to glaze that part that at first I assumed mine was defective, never finished. But...I've adjusted and am just going to deal with it. If I can ever figure out how to glaze that part myself without ruining the rest of it, I will.
